Maintenance Risk Assessments.
Section 2(2)(a) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 require employers to "Provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risk to health" Furthermore regulation 5 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 requires employers to ensure "the workplace, equipment, devices and systems shall be maintained to an efficient state, in efficient order and in good repair."
Such maintenance works will be carried out by authorised contractors or nominated individuals who's actions will be the subject of a suitable and sufficient risk assessment pursuant to regulation 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Regulation 1999.
